A workshop on Waterline Avenue and a drawing for every job

Trueline Plumbing Works keeps a sheet for every system it looks after: what is installed, what was read, what was changed and when. A returning call starts from that sheet rather than from scratch.

No part is fitted here before a reading is taken. A weeping joint and a failing main can look identical from the outside, and the difference between them is a pressure gauge and ten minutes, not an opinion offered at the door.

Pipework is drawn rather than described. Every job leaves behind a sheet showing the runs that were opened, the material they are made of, the readings taken and the date, so that the next call starts from a drawing instead of from memory.

Three things the firm holds to

  • The reading comes before the part

A pressure reading, a flow figure and a meter test cost a few minutes and settle an argument that a guess will keep running for weeks. The reading is taken first, every time.

  • The figure is the figure

A written figure is the figure. If something behind a wall changes the scope, the work stops and a second figure is agreed before it starts again.

  • A decline is an answer

Some jobs are not worth doing. When a fixture is beyond economic repair, or the pipework behind it will fail next, that is said out loud and in writing before any money is spent.

The four steps between an enquiry and a finished job

  1. Step 1

    Enquiry

An enquiry arrives by form or by telephone. It is answered with a question or two about the property, the fixture and the shut-off, and with a suggested service rather than a price on the spot.

  2. Step 2

    Diagnostic visit

A plumber attends, takes the readings and writes them down. Nothing is opened up or dismantled at this stage unless it has to be to reach a reading.

  3. Step 3

    Scope agreed

The scope is written out with a figure beside it and sent before any work is booked. A scope that grows on site is re-priced and re-approved before it goes ahead.

  4. Step 4

    Work and handover

The work is carried out, tested under pressure, and handed over with the sheet updated. What was fitted, what was left, and what is likely to need attention next are all recorded.

What this website does

This site publishes the firm's services, prices and hours and carries a contact form. It does not confirm an appointment. The Book action sends the visitor to the firm's configured booking destination, and a date is only ever confirmed by the firm directly.

Start with a diagnostic visit

Readings first, written down and shown, with the options set out before anything is fitted.

Notes from the workshop, occasionally

An email when a seasonal reminder is worth sending, such as lagging an exposed run before a freeze or flushing a water heater. No fixed schedule, and one link in every message removes an address from the list.
