Clover & Clip has been on Marlowe Row since 2017. Two dog stations, one cat room, one pet on each table at a time. The shop stayed this size because a quiet room is the difference between a groom that goes well and one that does not.

Ninety seconds
What the dryer is actually for
Most of an appointment is drying, and it is not about speed. Moving air separates the coat down to the skin so the undercoat comes out and the scissor work has something honest to sit on. A coat that is only towel-dried mats again in a week.

Dogs on one side, cats on the other
The dog room
Two stations, one pet on each, and the trolley within reach of both. Nothing waits in a crate for its turn, because appointments are spaced so that they do not have to. If a dog is finished early it goes home early.
The cat room
A separate room with its own door, used on Tuesday and Thursday mornings only, so no cat is booked into a morning full of dryers. Cat appointments are sedation-free, and a cat that has had enough goes home unfinished.
The bench
Four standards the room is run to
- Blades and shears are cleaned between pets, and sharpened on a schedule rather than when they start to pull.
- Dryers are used on the lowest setting that will finish the coat, and never pointed at a face.
- Every product used on a pet is one the owner can be told the name of at collection.
- One pet is on a table at a time. A second pet does not come out until the first has gone home.

On arrival
- Drop-off is inside a time band, not at a fixed minute. The band is confirmed when the appointment is made.
- Dogs come in on a lead, cats in a carrier. The door opens straight into the dog room.
- Street parking runs the length of Marlowe Row and is free for two hours.
