A first appointment is a conversation at the table, a figure agreed before any work starts, and a pet collected when the coat is finished rather than when a clock says so. Here is the whole of it, in order.

The day itself

Arrive inside the band
An appointment is a window to arrive in, not a fixed minute: morning 08:00 to 09:30, midday 10:30 to 12:00, afternoon 13:00 to 14:30. Arriving anywhere inside the band is on time.

The coat is read with you there
The groomer says what the coat needs, what it costs inside its band, and what will not be attempted. Matting is quoted at this point and never afterwards. One pet is on the table at a time.

A call when the coat is done
Most grooms run two to four hours, and the groomer says which end of that to expect before you leave. Payment is taken at collection and matches the figure agreed at drop-off.
The room
Two dog stations, and a separate room for cats
Nothing is done in a queue where pets can see each other work. Cats have their own room with the door shut and the dryers off, which is why cat appointments only run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Every trolley carries the same things — combs, shears, a slicker, water and a cool dryer — so a coat is never held on the table waiting for a tool to be found.
Bring with you
- The pet, on a lead or in a carrier.
- A phone number that will be answered during the appointment.
- Anything the groomer should know about handling, health or noise.
No small print
Four things said plainly

Double coats are not shaved
Shaving a double coat changes how it regrows and how the dog handles heat. Clover & Clip de-sheds instead, and will say no to a shave.

Cats are sedation-free only
No sedation is given or arranged. If a cat has had enough, the appointment ends there and only the time spent is charged.

A matted coat is a quote, not a surprise
$15 per 15 minutes, agreed at drop-off. If the quote is not accepted the coat is left as it is, and nothing is charged for it.

No results are promised
A groom is a service on a coat, not a treatment. Clover & Clip makes no medical claim and gives no medical advice.
Short on purpose
Puppies and nervous pets
A Puppy First Visit is deliberately short: handling, water, the noise of a dryer and clippers, nails, and an early finish. Nothing has to be completed. The point is that the second visit is easier than the first, and Junie books most of them.
Senior pets, and pets who find the table hard, are booked as a Senior or Special Handling Groom at $70 to $130. That buys a slower appointment with more breaks rather than a different haircut.

Under six months, any coat. Booked into the morning band so the shop is at its quietest, and finished early whether or not the coat is.
Afterwards
Collection, and coming back
Collection
A phone call when the coat is finished, not a text an hour before. Payment is taken at collection and matches the figure agreed at drop-off, including any matting time that was quoted and accepted.
Coming back
Most coats hold their shape for six to eight weeks, and a long silky coat usually wants the shorter end of that. The groomer says which interval suits the coat in front of them. Nothing is booked automatically.
