What clients said, in their own words

Each note below names the service it refers to and the day it was written, so it can be read against the thing it describes.

The reviews

Salon detail: a small long-coated dog on a grooming table while a groomer dries it.

Dana R.

Puppy first visit

No. 01

“The first visit was mostly sitting on the floor with the clippers switched off. Nothing was rushed and nothing was forced. The dryer was run on its lowest setting on the other side of the room first, then a little closer, and the bath did not happen at all that day because he had had enough by then. The price did not change for that.”

Salon detail: a soaked German shepherd standing in a steel bath, a groomer's arm steadying its shoulder.

Priya M.

Full groom

No. 02

“The matting behind her ears was explained to me before anything was cut, and I was shown how to get at it with a comb. I had expected to be told it all had to come off. Two of the four places were worked out and the other two were taken short, which was agreed with me at the table rather than reported to me at the counter.”

Salon detail: a groomer working on a dog at a grooming table.

Nail trim and ear clean

No. 03

“Price on the board was the price I paid. The nails were done while he was already on the table and nothing appeared at the counter. The dewclaws were included without me having to ask, and one ear that looked sore was pointed out to me and named as something for a veterinary surgeon rather than treated there.”

Salon detail: a hand shower rinsing lather out of a German shepherd's coat.

Sam K.

Hand strip

No. 04

“My terrier had been clipped for six years and I was told plainly at the first appointment that the first strip might not come out clean. It did not, entirely. It was still the right thing to start, because the coat that has grown back since is harsh again and the colour has come back into it. The next date was written down before I left.”

Salon detail: the head of a white poodle in show trim, its topknot held in pink wraps.

Lena B.

De-shed treatment

No. 05

“I asked to have the coat shaved off because of the hair in the house, and I was told why that would not work and what the treatment does instead. It took three quarters of an hour and what came out filled a bin. The house has been better for six weeks and the coat is still the coat he was born with.”

Salon detail: an apricot poodle's head with its topknot held in small bands.

Bath and tidy

No. 06

“I am growing the body coat out and wanted a wash without losing any length. That is exactly what happened: bathed, dried, brushed right through, and only the feet, the face and the rear tidied. Nothing was taken off the body and nobody tried to talk me into the full groom.”
