A salon that reads the brief back first

Morrow Strand Salon is a hair salon at 305 Morrow Street in Providence, working to a result agreed before the appointment starts.

The salon takes six services and nothing else. Each one has a written scope and a published price, and the hair is read against that scope before any work begins. A result that needs more than the booked service is re-quoted at that point, and the visitor decides.

Nothing is added during an appointment. There is no upsell at the chair, no package, and no charge that appears only at the desk on the way out. What the appointment was booked for is what it delivers, unless somebody agreed otherwise first.

Three principles

  • The brief is read back before the price is fixed

A published price applies to a published scope. The intended result is described back in the salon's own words first, and a difference is named then rather than at the end.

  • A reference is a conversation, not an instruction

A photograph brought to the chair shows hair that is not the visitor's. Morrow Strand Salon says which parts of it are reachable on the hair in front of it, and which are not.

  • No promised result

The salon states what it will do. It makes no claim about how long a colour will hold or how a cut will fall as it grows, and it attaches no outcome to a hair type.

What an appointment looks like

  1. Step 1

    The brief is taken

In words and in references, with the constraints and the timing said out loud before anything is switched on.

  2. Step 2

    The scope is confirmed

One of the six services, or a plain statement that none of them fits today.

  3. Step 3

    The price is confirmed

Out loud, before the work starts, including what would change it.

  4. Step 4

    The work is reported back

Against the scope that was agreed, with a note of anything worth knowing before the next appointment.

A long salon room lined with mirrors, tan styling chairs and plants above a pale wood floor.
The room the six services are carried out in.

What this salon does not do

Morrow Strand Salon is a hair salon and not a clinic. It does not diagnose or treat a scalp condition, and hair loss, irritation or a reaction to a previous treatment is referred rather than worked over. It also takes no walk-ins: every appointment is arranged in advance so the chair and the time are genuinely free.

A question about a service, a reference or a price

The contact form takes a question and sends it to the salon. Book goes to the arrangements page; neither one confirms a time by itself.
