Six alterations, each with the scope it covers and the price it starts at. A price written as from is a floor and not an estimate; the estimate is confirmed in the fitting room.

Trouser hem
from $24
The leg is shortened or lengthened to a marked length and finished to match the trouser: a plain turn, a blind hem or a cuff reset at its original depth. Where the original hem can be reused it is, because a reused hem does not show.
Suits trousers that fit at the waist and seat and are wrong only in length.

Jacket fitting
from $65
A jacket pinned on the wearer and altered through the seams that will take it: sleeve length from the cuff or the head, side and back seams for the body, and the shoulder where the construction allows. Linings are opened and closed again as part of the job.
Suits a jacket that is right in the shoulder but loose or long elsewhere.

Dress alteration
from $72
A dress taken in or let out through the bodice and waist, with strap length, neckline gap and hem addressed in the same fitting. Zips are reset where a seam has to be opened past them, and linings are altered with the shell rather than after it.
Suits a dress bought for the largest measurement and loose everywhere else.

The blind hem. The thread travels inside the folded edge and catches only a few threads of the outer cloth at each rise, which is why a finished hem shows nothing from the front and why the work is measured by the fold rather than by the seam. -
Waist adjustment
from $38
The waistband is opened at the centre back and moved in or out to a marked measurement, with the seat seam blended so the change does not stop at the band. Belt loops are repositioned where the movement would otherwise leave them crowded.
Suits trousers or a skirt that sit correctly at the hip but gap at the waist.

Formalwear consultation
$35
A booked half hour for a wedding, ceremony or black-tie garment, covering what the alteration can achieve, how many fittings it will need and where it has to sit in the calendar to be ready. The fee is set against the alteration if the work goes ahead.
Suits a garment for a fixed date that needs more than one fitting.

Rush assessment
$25
An examination of the garment and the deadline, ending in a plain yes or no on whether the work fits the bench schedule and what it would cost at that speed. A no is given at this point rather than discovered later.
Suits a garment needed sooner than the standard turnaround allows.

The workshop replies with the times a fitting can be held and what the work is likely to cost within the stated scope.

Price and result are agreed on the garment, in the room, before anything is cut.
If two services look equally right
A waist adjustment and a dress alteration can describe the same garment, and the difference is in how much of the construction has to be opened. Sending a photograph through the contact form settles it faster than choosing from this page.
