The people at the studio

Four people work at Lacquer Room Nail & Beauty Studio: three nail technicians and a brow specialist who also runs the front desk. Each profile explains what that person takes and when to ask for them.

  • A hand with nails painted in bright red and blue freehand patterns.

    Mei Tanaka

    Owner and lead nail technician

Mei Tanaka opened Lacquer Room in 2019 after nine years at salons in Charlotte and Asheville. She takes most structured gel overlay appointments and is the person to ask about nails that keep splitting or breaking. She also keeps the studio's sterilization log and checks that every metal tool goes through the autoclave between clients.

  • Four short, bare natural fingernails photographed close up.

    Rosa Delgado

    Senior nail technician

Rosa Delgado has worked at the studio since it opened and looks after most classic manicures and pedicures. She prefers natural nail care to heavy product and says plainly when a nail would do better with a few weeks bare. Clients who would like a quiet appointment can say so when booking, and Rosa keeps the conversation to what the service needs.

  • Antique manicure tools with ornate silver handles laid out on a white background.

    Priya Anand

    Nail artist

Priya Anand trained in illustration before qualifying as a nail technician in 2021, and paints the studio's freehand designs. She works from a client's reference photo or sketches options at the table, and says at the start when a design will not fit the half-hour nail art slot. She also takes gel manicures on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

  • An antique manicure set in an open wooden case lined with red fabric.

    Jordan Ellis

    Brow specialist and studio coordinator

Jordan Ellis runs the front desk, answers enquiries and keeps the appointment book, and takes brow shape and tint appointments on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Jordan also carries out the free patch tests for brow tint and notes any product sensitivities on the client card before a first visit, so the technician at the table has them in front of them.

Asking for someone by name

Together, the four cover every service on the list. Mention a preferred technician or service in the contact form and the front desk replies with the times that person is genuinely free. Mei and Rosa work Tuesday to Saturday, Priya works Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and Jordan is at the desk on every open day.

Ask about an appointment

The name of a service and a rough time range is enough to start. Lacquer Room replies with the times that are actually open.

Studio notes

An occasional email about opening hours, seasonal colours and holiday closures. One address, nothing else, and it stops the moment it is asked to.
