Cut and finish

A consultation about how the hair is worn on an ordinary morning comes first, then a wash and a scissor cut worked to the growth pattern. The shape is checked dry at the end, so the line that leaves the salon is the line that appears the next morning.

About two and a half hours
A full colour and a cut worked in one sitting by the same stylist. The shade is chosen by the window in daylight, and the formula is written down so the same colour can be repeated exactly next time.

Balayage

About three and a quarter hours
Lightening hand-painted through the lengths so the colour starts soft at the root with no hard line to grow out. A toner sets the shade and the cut is worked into the new shape afterwards.

Single-process colour

About 90 minutes
One shade worked from root to tip in a single application, which covers grey evenly at the parting and hairline. The price moves with length and is quoted before anything is mixed.

Gloss and toner

A gloss or toner worked through the mid-lengths and ends to put tone back into colour that has gone brassy or flat. Nothing is lifted, so it leaves no regrowth line.

A corner salon that books one chair at a time
Every appointment at Wilder & Ash Hair Salon starts with a conversation rather than a pair of shears. A stylist asks how the hair is worn on an ordinary morning, what the last cut or colour got wrong, and how long the shape or the shade has to hold before the next one.
The salon books one chair at a time for exactly that reason. An appointment is given the length the work needs rather than the length the diary would prefer, and the stylist who starts a cut stays with it through to the mirror at the end. Nothing is bundled, nothing is added at the counter, and a service that would not suit the hair is said so before it begins.
A first visit can expect a quarter of an hour of talking and looking before anything is switched on, a price that was already printed on the services page, and a finish checked dry so the shape that leaves the salon is the one that turns up the following morning.
