02Services

Six services, each with its price

Every service below states what is included and what it costs. A price marked “from” is the lowest price for the stated scope; a custom price is quoted in writing before anything is set aside. Nothing on this page reserves a table.

The six services in full

A dark plate of small round cakes, roasted squash and mushrooms on a wooden table, with a paper-lined basket of bread behind it.

01

Seasonal breakfast

$16 per person

One hot dish built from the week’s market delivery, with bread, a preserve and a coffee or tea chosen at the table. Served from opening until eleven, Tuesday to Sunday. Arrive with a rough time in mind; no table is held in advance and the kitchen stops plating breakfast at eleven exactly. Send dietary notes through the contact form first so the kitchen can answer before the visit.

Best for

Best for a visitor who wants a full sit-down breakfast rather than a pastry at the counter.

Served Tuesday to Sunday from opening until 11:00 AM.

A cast-iron pan of braised chicken with broccoli, mushrooms and red peppers, set on a wooden board.

02

House lunch plate

$19 per plate

One midday plate written each morning from what arrived that week: a cooked centre, two vegetable preparations and bread, sized for one person. The day’s plate is posted at the counter by eleven. Substitutions are not made once the plate is set and there is no second choice on the board. Ask the day before if an allergy needs checking against the plate.

Best for

Best for a single diner or a pair who want one course and a short stop.

One plate each day, written at the counter by 11:00 AM.

A red lacquer bowl of miso soup with tofu, coriander leaves and shredded herbs, seen from directly above.

03

Soup and bread

$12 per bowl

One soup made that morning, ladled with a cut of the house loaf and salted butter. It is served all day while it lasts and the pot is not restocked, so a late arrival may find it gone. The ingredients are listed at the counter each day. Ask at the counter on arrival, or send a message to hear what is planned for the week.

Best for

Best for a light midday stop, or a cold day when one bowl is enough.

Served from opening until the pot is empty.

Rows of fruit-filled danish pastries on a checked tray inside a lit counter case.

04

Pastry selection

From $5 per pastry

A counter of laminated and yeasted pastries baked on the premises before the door opens. A single pastry starts at five dollars and a box of four is priced at the counter that day. The selection changes daily and nothing is held back for later, so the morning brings the widest choice. Larger orders need two days’ notice through the contact form.

Best for

Best for a counter visit on the way past, or a box taken to an office.

Baked before opening; the counter is thinnest after 2:00 PM.

A hand at the group head of an espresso machine as coffee runs into a white cup.

05

Coffee service

From $4 per cup

Filter and espresso drinks pulled to order from one roaster, with whole milk, oat milk or none. A four-dollar cup is the smallest filter and espresso drinks are priced individually on the board. Coffee is served to the table alongside food and at the counter on its own. Beans are not sold by the bag and no drinks order is taken by telephone.

Best for

Best for a long sit with a book, or a coffee alongside the lunch plate.

Served throughout opening hours; the grinder stops fifteen minutes before close.

A long table set with placemats, glasses and a small dried arrangement in a room with wooden walls.

06

Private table enquiry

Custom quoted in writing

The long table at the back seats ten and is held for one booking at a time. An enquiry states the date, the number of guests and whether food comes from the day’s menu or is arranged separately. A written quotation follows before anything is set aside. Nothing on this website reserves the table; the enquiry opens a conversation by email or telephone.

Best for

Best for a birthday, a small work lunch, or a group who need one table together.

One booking at a time. Enquiries are answered during opening hours.

07Contact

How contact works, in three steps

  1. A message arrives

The contact form sends the name, email address, optional telephone number, the service named and the message. Nothing else is collected and nothing is charged.

  2. The kitchen replies

Jonah Whitfield, the guest experience coordinator, answers by email or telephone during opening hours, confirms the scope and states the price that applies. A “from” or custom price becomes an exact figure at this point.

  3. A visit is agreed

Only after that reply is anything held. Book a table opens the same enquiry form as every other contact action on this website, so a table is asked for here and confirmed by the kitchen separately; the website never states that a table exists until that confirmation has come back.

08Suitability

When two services look equally right

The descriptions above are written so a visitor can choose without asking. When two still look equally suitable, the shorter path is to send one message naming both: the kitchen answers with the one that fits the date, the group size and the time of day. Dietary requirements and access needs are answered the same way, in writing, before a visit rather than at the table.

Suitability depends on a customer's own needs, and the kitchen does not claim a service suits everyone. The questions page covers the eight asked most often.

Contact

Name a service and send one message

The reply confirms the exact price for the scope described above. A message is an enquiry and does not hold a table.

Or write to hello@lanterntablekitchen.example and the kitchen replies during opening hours.
